ABOUT Aloo Matar RECIPE

When there's nothing to cook, potatoes and peas are always there.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Potatoes 4 medium sized, diced
  2. Peas 1 cup
  3. Onion paste 3/4 cup
  4. Tomato puree 3 tbsp
  5. Ginger and garlic 2 tbsp, chopped
  6. Oil 3 tbsp
  7. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  8. Turmeric powder 1 tbsp
  9. Garam masala 1 tsp
  10. Degi mirch 1 tsp
  11. Green chillies 2-3, chopped
  12. Dried methi leaves 1 tbsp
  13. Water approximately 5 cups
  14. Coriander leaves 2 tbsp
  15. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a pressure cooker, heat oil then add in the cumin seeds, degi mirch, turmeric, ginger, garlic, onions and saute till it's translucent.
  2. Add the tomatoes, garam masala, methi leaves and cook till the oil separates itself.
  3. Add in the potatoes, peas, water and salt. Cover and cook till it's done or 5-6 whistles blow.
  4. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
