ABOUT Moong Dal RECIPE

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Moong dal 3/4 cup
  2. Water 4 cups
  3. Onion 1 medium sized, finely chopped
  4. Tomato 1 medium sized, finely chopped
  5. Ginger and Garlic chopped 2 tbsp
  6. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  7. Turmeric powder 1 tbsp
  8. Garam masala 1 tsp
  9. Methi/ Fenugreek leaves 1 tbsp
  10. Green chillies 2-3
  11. Ghee 3-4 tbsp
  12. Coriander leaves 2 tbsp
  13. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a pressure cooker, heat 2 tbsp of ghee, then add in the cumin seeds, turmeric, ginger, garlic, onions and saute till it's translucent. Next, add in the tomatoes.
  2. When the oil separates itself, add in the dal, water, salt, garam masala and methi leaves. Then cover and cook till it's done or 1-2 whistle blows.
  3. In a tadka pan, heat ghee then add the green chillies. Now pour this over the dal.
  4. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
