ABOUT Rose Petals Rasam RECIPE

It aids digestion and prevents constipation. The aroma of the rose enriches the rasam. It is considered good for the heart and mind.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Water - 2 to 3 cups,
  2. Tamarind - Small lime sized,
  3. Turmeric- 2 pinches,
  4. Salt - To taste,
  5. Rasam Powder - 2 teaspoon,
  6. Rose petals- 10 to 15,
  7. Fresh Curry leaves - As required
  8. Rasam Powder Preparation - Cumin seeds - 1 tablespoon,
  9. Coriander seeds - 1/2 tablespoon,
  10. Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 teaspoon,
  11. Black pepper - 15 number,
  12. Red Gram - 1 teaspoon.
  13. For Tempering - Mustard seeds - 1/4 teaspoon,
  14. Coriander seeds - 1/4 teaspoon,
  15. Asafoetida - 2 pinches,
  16. Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 teaspoon,
  17. Crushed cumin seeds - 1/4 teaspoon,
  18. Oil - 2 teaspoon.

Instructions

  1. Preparation of Rasam Powder- Roast all the above said ingredients one after the other and make into a powder.
  2. Rose Rasam Preparation - Take a saucepan over medium flame. Pour 3 cups of water.
  3. Add tamarind juice, salt, curry leaves and turmeric. Allow it to boil for 10 minutes.
  4. Then add Rasam powder. Cover it with a lid.
  5. For seasoning - Fry all the tempering ingredients for a minute in oil.
  6. Add this tempering to the boiling rasam and turn off the flame.
  7. Now add the fresh rose petals, place a lid and allow the flavors to meld. It will be simply zen.
  8. Serve warm with hot rice.
