ABOUT #Gul-e-firdaus RECIPE

Dessert from Hyderabadi cuisine with health of sago and bottle gourd and richness of almond paste aroma of rose.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 500 ml milk
  2. 1 tbsp Desi ghee
  3. 1/2 cup bottle guard grated
  4. 1/2 cup sago soaked
  5. 1/2 cup mawa or milk powder
  6. Sugar less than 1/2 cup
  7. 2 tbsp Almond paste
  8. Gulkand for garnishing
  9. Rose essence a few drops

Instructions

  1. In a wok, add a tbsp of desi ghee. Add grated bottle gourd and cook till the moisture evaporates.
  2. Add milk, soaked sago and let it simmer.
  3. When it starts to thicken and sago become translucent, add sugar, mawa and almond paste. Stir well for 2 minutes.
  4. Turn off the gas.
  5. Sprinkle few drops of rose essence.
  6. Refrigerate and serve with gulkand garnishing.
