Ingredients to make Besan ka Halwa

  • besan - 1/2 cup
  • ghee - 1/2 Cup (You can decrease by 1 tablespoon if necessary)
  • sugar - 1/2 cup
  • water - 2 cups
  • Almonds and cashewnuts to garnish
  • cardamom powder - A pinch

How to make Besan ka Halwa

  1. Add ghee in a heavy bottom pan and add the besan to it.
  2. Cook on low heat till the besan is slightly browned and a nice aroma starts coming from it.
  3. Add the sugar and cook for a minute.
  4. Add water and cook while stirring continuously.
  5. Cook till all the water has been absorbed by the besan.
  6. Garnish with chopped dry fruits like almonds and pistachios or cashewnuts.
  7. You can put fried cashewnuts (in ghee) on top for the extra crunch.
  8. Always cook the besan on low heat and keep stirring continuously, otherwise besan can burn from the bottom. You can increase or decrease the amount of sugar as per your liking. Do not overcook the halwa, otherwise it will be very dry.

My Tip:

Add a pinch of nutmeg powder for extra secret taste. Sprinkle on top before serving.
