Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. spinach 1 bundle
  2. rice 1 1/2 cup
  3. 1 cup tuver dal
  4. Green mirchi 4
  5. garlic cloves 8
  6. 4 medium size onions
  7. salt as per taste
  8. Dhaniya powder 2 tsp
  9. A pinch of haldi
  10. 1 tomato pulp (optional)


  1. First cleans spinach and boil. When it cools, blend in a mixie jar and keep aside.
  2. Boil the rice after soaking in water. Drain excess water. Boil Tuvar Dal (Arhar dal) in a pressure cooker and keep aside.
  3. In a pan, take oil, hing, jeera, green chillies paste, garlic paste stir properly and add grated onion stir it until it turns light pink. Add in the spinach puree, salt, haldi, dhaniya powder. Saute for a while, next add in rice and dal.
  4. You can add boiled tomato pulp too in it (optional: it will change spinach's green colour a little, I have not added).
  5. Stir properly, serve hot.
