Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Mutton 300 gm
  2. Onions, thinly sliced 1/2 cup
  3. ginger and garlic paste 1 tbsp
  4. chilli powder 1/2 tbsp
  5. coriander powder 1 tbsp
  6. curd 1/4 cup, beaten
  7. cream (fresh) 1/4 cup
  8. garam masala powder 1 tsp
  9. cinnamon stick 1 small
  10. mace - a little
  11. cardamom 3
  12. cashew nuts (ground) 2 tbsp
  13. ghee as required
  14. salt as required


  1. Clean the mutton and cut into one inch square pieces. Wash well and drain.
  2. First take a wide bottomed pan and pour ghee, fry cinnamon, cloves, mace and add onions.
  3. When onions becomes soft, add ginger, garlic and saute till the raw smell goes away.
  4. Add the drained mutton pieces and saute for 5 minutes on a medium flame.
  5. Lower the heat and add chilli powder, coriander powder and saute for 3 more minutes.
  6. Add the beaten curd with required salt and add enough water for the mutton pieces to cook.
  7. Allow the curry to boil and lower the flame. Cover with a lid and cook till mutton is done.
  8. Add cashew paste, garam masala and simmer for 5 more minutes.
  9. Remove shahi mutton korma from fire. Before serving heat the curry and add grated paneer. For garnishing, heat some ghee and fry cashew nuts and pour over the curry.
