ABOUT Khatkhati/Coconut Candy RECIPE

These are delicious Goan sweets prepared out of peanuts, coconut and jaggery . Rich and flavorful and takes about 20 minutes to prepare.

Ingredients Serving: 25

  1. 1 cup grated coconut
  2. 1/4 cup roasted peanuts
  3. 1/4 Cup Roasted Sesame seeds
  4. 250 grams Jaggery
  5. 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  6. Little ghee for greasing

Instructions

  1. Roughly crush the roasted peanuts and keep aside.
  2. Grease a plate with ghee for later use.
  3. In a non stick saucepan , add jaggery and let it melt on medium high heat. Keep stirring in between.
  4. Remove from heat once the jaggery is well melted.
  5. Add in grated coconut, crushed peanuts , sesame seeds and cardamom powder and give it a nice mix.
  6. Keep the mixture to cool down for some time, but do not let it cool down completely.
  7. Take some mixture on your palm , may be a size of a lime and shape it up like ladoo and then flatten it in a disc shape.
  8. Place it on the greased plate and repeat for all.
  9. Enjoy and store the rest in air tight container.
