Ingredients to make Moong masoor dal

  • masoor dal ( orange) 1/2 cup
  • moong dal ( yellow) 1/2 cup
  • onion Chopped 1 medium sized
  • Tomatoe chopped 1 medium
  • ginger and garlic chopped 2 tbsp
  • ghee 3 tbsp
  • cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Degi mirch 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  • green chillies chopped 2-3
  • methi leaves 1 tbsp
  • water 4 cups or as required
  • coriander leaves 2 tbsp
  • salt to taste

How to make Moong masoor dal

  1. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds,ginger , chillies garlic,turmeric, onions saute till translucent , then add tomatoes saute till oil separates
  2. Add washed dal, salt methi leaves, water cover cook till done or one whistle
  3. Open lid when pressure is released on its on ,add coriander leaves

My Tip:

Soak dal for an hour before cooking.can also be cooked in pan on low heat.
