ABOUT Nani Maa's Traditional Coconut Barfi RECIPE

Coconut Burfi is always my favorite. My Naani maa used to make it for us. Following her traditinal recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Milk 1 cup
  2. Coconut grated 1 1/2 cup
  3. Khoya 1/2 cup
  4. Sugar 1/2 cup
  5. Almonds for garnishing
  6. Green food color optional
  7. Ghee 2-3 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Mix the grated coconut and milk leaving 1/4 cup of grated coconut for garnishing
  2. Keep it aside for 45 minutes atleast
  3. Now heat the ghee in a pan and then pour the coconut mixture in it.
  4. Stir it for 5 minutes
  5. Now add khoya in it and keep stirring it for at least 15 minutes
  6. Add sugar in it and mix it well
  7. Keep stirring so that i won't stick on the base
  8. Ghee will leave sides after 5 minutes almost
  9. Now in a greased plate, pour the mixture and if you want to use food color, then in 1/4th batter add color and make a base layer of that
  10. Keep it in refrigerator for 15-20 minutes
  11. Garnish it with left grated coconut and chopped almonds
  12. Serve with hot elaichi ginger tea..
