ABOUT Mini Modak RECIPE

This is a traditional South Indian Brahmin recipe made during festivals

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Half cup Urad dal
  2. Quarter cup toot dal
  3. 8-9 red chillies
  4. Asoefatida 2-3 pinches
  5. 1 cup Rice flour
  6. Half cup oil
  7. Salt to taste
  8. curry leaves

Instructions

  1. Soak Urad and tool dal together in water for couple of hours and grind coarsely
  2. Steam this mixture in a idli plate for 20 minutes
  3. By this time the mix will be like dal idlis , take these idlis and crumble them
  4. In a pan do tadka with mustard seeds and curry leaf and saute this crumble
  5. rake a separate pan add 1 cup water and when it boils switch off the flame and add the rice flour
  6. When the rice flour cools grease some oil and make tiny rice flour balls
  7. Steam these rice flour balls again
  8. Mix with the dal crumble and do tadka with red chillies and curry leaves
