ABOUT Bharli Mirchi RECIPE

Bharli Mirchi is a maharashtrian side dish in which chillies are stuffed with coconut mixture and then shallow fried.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Big whole light green chillies 4-6
  2. 1 cup fresh grated coconut
  3. 3-4 small green chillies
  4. 1 teaspoon amchur powder
  5. 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  6. 3-4 flakes of garlic
  7. salt as per taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the big green chillies and Remove stem, slit on one side and deseed them. Cut them into half and set aside.
  2. Dry grind in the mixer, coconut, green chillies, amchur powder, turmeric, garlic flakes and salt (do not add any water).
  3. Heat a pan and roast the ground mixture for about 5-7 minutes on a medium flame. Let it cool.
  4. Fill the mixture in the slit green chilly pieces. Tie a thread around them to avoid spilling of mixture.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry on both sides till nice and brown on a medium flame. You may cover the pan to speed up the process of browning.
  6. Serve hot as a side dish with roti or rice.
