Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cups whole wheat flour
  2. 1/2 cup curd
  3. 1/2 Cup warm water
  4. 2 table spoon olive oil
  5. 1 tspoon powder sugar
  6. salt as per taste
  7. 1/4 tsp baking powder
  8. Sesame seeds, kalonji, coriander and chillies for garnishing
  9. Butter or ghee for applying

Instructions

  1. Mix wheat flour, sugar, salt and baking powder using your hands.
  2. Add oil, curd and make a crumbly dough.
  3. Add water little by little. Start making the dough. It should be a soft dough and not sticky.
  4. Once soft dough is formed, cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 3-4 hours.
  5. After 3 hours, knead the dough again with your hands.
  6. Make lemon sized balls out of it. Roll round or oval shaped naan out of it. Dust with flour while rolling to avoid any sticking.
  7. Apply sesame seeds, kalonji and coriander on top. Press slightly with your hands.
  8. Apply water on the back side of the naan and stick naan on a pre heated tava. Let the bubbles form on the naan.
  9. Carefully turn the tava upside down, make sure the naan does not fall down.
  10. Cook naan directly on flame by keeping tava upside down on flame, till it becomes nice golden brown like in a tandoor.
  11. Keep moving tava to avoid burning of naan and cook evenly. Add a dollop of butter on it, serve hot.

In ingredients baking soda is given. But in description baking powder is written. Which is to be added. I prepared with baking soda. Dough is too sticky. Just added 1/4 cup water. Don't know how naan will turn out.
