Kokni style fish curry. Rawas fish, fleshy in coconut gravy. My first ever taste of fish was this sumptuous salan/curry by my mother in law.

Clean the fish, wash well, apply salt and keep aside.
Chop or grate tomatoes and keep aside.
Make a paste of poppy seeds, dry coconut and sesame seeds.
Heat oil in a pot, add curry leaves, coconut paste and stir fry.
Add in the tomatoes grated and stir well. Add salt, red chillies powder and turmeric.
Add a little flour and roast this mix on a low heat. Add a little water.
Simmer the curry, add kokum. Let this curry cook well for 10-15 minutes, add in the fish pieces after washing off the salt applied.
Cook for 10 minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander.
Serve hot with steamed rice.
SERVING: 4

nice recepie Sana. just a question. will Fish be cooked properly after adding both Tomato and Kokam. I m asking this as generally we add source after vege cooked. I have not cooked fish this way since long as in between I had stopped Sea food. And my "Aaji" used to cook this curry. so just b 4 trying .....
