Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup oats
  2. 1/2 cups fine semolina (rava)
  3. 2 tbsp gram flour
  4. 1/2 tsp baking soda
  5. 1/2 tsp salt ( or according to taste)
  6. 1/4 tsp citric acid
  7. 2 tsp sugar
  8. handful cilantro cut fine
  9. 2 tbsp olive oil or any oil of choice
  10. To garnish-cooked sprouted moong and salad
  11. and mixed sauces


  1. Dry roast the 'one minute oats' in a heavy bottomed pan on medium heat stirring continously.
  2. When it turns creamy/light brown, keep aside to cool for a few minutes.
  3. Dry roast the semolina on medium to medium high heat for 3-4 minutes stirring continuously, then remove from heat and keep aside to cool.
  4. When the oats are cool, grind coarsely in a spice grinder. Mix the cooled semolina, gram flour and coarsely ground all of it together.
  5. Add to this mixture salt to taste and yogurt and make thick batter.Just before steaming, add sugar,citric acid and baking soda to the batter
  6. Mix well. Grease doughnuts or wada moulds and place spoonfuls of this mixture into each mould and steam for about 6 to 7 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat, cool for about a minute, remove each mould ..Heat oil, add mustard seeds to it, when mustard seeds begin to splutter add to wada with handful cilantro cut finely.
  8. Fill cooked sprouted moong in the dents of wada. Serve with salad and mixed sauces , make a platter with the remaining ingredients.
