Palak Dal

Ingredients to make Palak Dal

  • masoor dal 1 cup
  • palak 1/2 bundle, chopped
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1 medium sized tomato
  • 1/2 inch ginger (Chopped into small pieces)
  • garlic 3 cloves, finely chopped
  • Chillies 1/2 tsp, chopped
  • Jeera (cumin seeds) 1/2 tsp
  • salt as per taste
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • red chilli powder 1/4 tsp
  • cumin powder 1/2 tsp
  • ghee 1/2 tbsp

How to make Palak Dal

  1. Boil dal with 2 cups of water, turmeric and half of the salt for two whistle, first on high and second on medium flame.
  2. In a pan, add ghee and once it is hot, add jeera and fry till it turns brown, add garlic.
  3. Once garlic becomes brown, add onion and chillies. Fry till golden brown.
  4. Add in all the masalas, mix on a low flame. Add palak and tomatoes.
  5. Palak will leave some water so let it get cooked for 5 minutes on a medium flame.
  6. Add in the dal, ginger, mix and boil for 4 minutes on a low flame.
  7. Dal palak is ready, add in cream for a more creamy taste.
