ABOUT Mawa Sandesh RECIPE

The traditional sandesh with extra flavour of khoya.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. To make khoya :
  2. Milk Powder - 1 cup
  3. Ghee - 1/4 th cup
  4. Milk - 1/4 th milk
  5. For Chenna :
  6. Milk - 1 litre
  7. Lemon juice - 1/4 th cup
  8. Other Ingredients :
  9. Powdered Sugar - 1/2 cup
  10. Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
  11. Kesar few strands

Instructions

  1. Mix the milk powder, ghee and milk together to form a paste.
  2. Heat this in a microwave for 3 minutes, in pulses of 30 seconds, to form the khoya. Keep aside.
  3. To make the Chenna, boil the milk and then add the lemon juice to cut it.
  4. Strain in a muslin cloth, wash it and keep it under some weight for atleast 1 hour.
  5. Now mix the khoya and the Chenna together and mash it with the palm, to make it smooth.
  6. Cook this on a nonstick pan, with the sugar powder, cardamom powder and Kesar.
  7. Cook till it thickens.
  8. Cool it and shape it using a mould.
  9. Serve.
