ABOUT Gulab Jamun RECIPE

This gulab jamun is made of milk powder without using mawa or khoya.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For Jamuns:
  2. Milk powder 1 cup
  3. Maida 1/4 cup
  4. Baking soda a pinch
  5. Ghee 2 tsp
  6. Curd 2-3 tsp
  7. Oil for frying the jamuns
  8. Few chopped/slices pistachios and almond for garnishing
  9. For Sugar Syrup:
  10. Water 2 cups
  11. sugar 1 cup
  12. Cardamom 3 crushed or use 1/4 tsp
  13. Saffron few strands

Instructions

  1. Making the Syrup - Add water, sugar, cardamom and saffron in a sauce pan.
  2. Bring to boil and cook till you get a syrup consistency which will take around 10 mins or little more. Please note there should be no thread formation in the sugar solution. Keep aside.
  3. Making the Jamuns - Take the milk powder, flour, soda in a mixing bowl.
  4. Add the ghee and mix well.
  5. Add the curd 1 tsp at a time and mix well. Keep on adding little by little of the yogurt to get a soft sticky mixture.
  6. Make smooth small balls from the dough.
  7. Heat the oil in a frying pan. When the oil is hot switch off the flame.
  8. Wait for a min and then add the balls and stir well.
  9. After a min or two switch on the flame and fry them in low-medium heat stirring often to get even color and till golden.
  10. Add the fried jamuns into the sugar syrup. Let them soak in the sugar syrup for atleast 1 hour.
  11. Serve warm or at room temperature along with the syrup garnish with pistachios and almond.
