Chicken Chettinad

Ingredients to make Chicken Chettinad

  • chicken 1 kg
  • turmeric powder 2 teaspoon
  • ginger & garlic paste 2 teaspoon
  • cumin seeds 2 teaspoon
  • coriander seeds 1 Teaspoon
  • red chilli 5 pieces
  • Black pepper 2 teaspoon
  • curry leaves a few
  • Chopped garlic 1/2 tsp
  • salt as per taste
  • Gingelly oil - 1 tbsp
  • Chopped green chilli 1/2 tsp
  • mustard 1/2 tsp
  • urad dal 1/2 tsp

How to make Chicken Chettinad

  1. Clean the chicken and keep aside. Keep the kadai on the stove on a medium flame.
  2. Add little oil, ginger garlic paste and turmeric powder, stir well until a nice aroma comes.
  3. Now add chicken and salt and close the lid tightly. Cook it on a low flame for 15 minutes or until the chicken cooks well.
  4. Now take a small kadai, add the cumin, coriander, pepper, red chilli, and curry leaves roast it nicely and grind it.
  5. Now add the coarsely ground powder in the chicken, stir well and keep it for 5 minutes.
  6. Lastly keep a small pan on the stove and add little oil.
  7. Put the mustard, urad dal, chopped garlic and green chilli, curry leaves and stir well until all the ingredients turn golden brown. Now add this in the chicken and take it off the heat,garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with curd rice and pickles.
