Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Drumstick leaves - 1 cup
  2. Rice - 1 cup
  3. Urad dal - 1/2 cup
  4. Dry red chillies - 5-6
  5. Tamarind - 1/2 tbsp
  6. Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
  7. Salt
  8. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak rice for a minimum of 30 mins.
  2. Wash the drumstick leaves and keep aside.
  3. Heat a pan and dry roast the urad dal and red chillies separately. Keep aside to cool.
  4. Grind the rice, urad dal, chillies, tamarind, asafoetida and salt to a coarse paste, not very smooth. Add little water.
  5. Take out in a vessel, add the drumstick leaves and mix well.
  6. Make vadas and deep fry on medium heat.
