Ingredients to make Shakkar Para

  • 270 grams plain flour/maida
  • 50 ml water
  • 50 ml milk
  • 100 grams ghee
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • oil for frying

How to make Shakkar Para

  1. Heat a pan and combine water, milk and sugar. Boil until sugar gets dissolved.
  2. Add 50 grams ghee to it and cool it down to room temperature.
  3. In a kneading plate, combine flour and the remaining ghee and mix using your hands.
  4. Once it starts looking like bread crumbs, add the boiled syrup and form a dough. Knead it for 5 minutes. If the dough feels very sticky then add a little more flour. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
  5. Roll half of the dough into a disc with 1/8th inch thickness. Using a sharp knife cut into squares or diamonds and fry them in medium hot oil until they turn golden brown.

My Tip:

Do not sprinkle flour while rolling the dough.
