ABOUT Butter Murukku RECIPE

This dish is supposed to be beginner friendly. I noted down many recipes after viewing many Tamil channels in TV for this Diwali season. Wanted to make many, but ended up choosing this easy one. It suited for the senior citizens like me. Though there are different ways to make this I was inspired by an anchor Mrs. Shashi Madan, in DD channel.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice flour (homemade) - 1 cup
  2. Roasted gram powder - 1/4 cup
  3. Cumin seeds -1 tsp
  4. Butter - 1 tbsp
  5. Coconut milk - 1 cup
  6. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Slightly boil coconut milk (store bought) by adding butter in it.
  2. Make roasted gram powder.
  3. Mix all the dry ingredients.
  4. Add warm coconut milk little by little carefully and keep mixing.
  5. Mix well by pressing well.
  6. Use milk little by little, I have used 3/4 cup of milk.
  7. If the milk is insufficient, water can be sprinkled.
  8. The dough should not stick to hands.
  9. Heat oil for deep frying. Grease the press with oil and place dough in it.
  10. Make stick like murukkus by cutting it with finger tips for required length while squeezing in hot oil.
