Caramel Fudge Laddoos

Ingredients to make Caramel Fudge Laddoos

  • butter - 100g
  • Condensed milk - 1 tin (400g)
  • Caramel syrup - 2 tbsp
  • Milk powder - 1 tbsp
  • Clarified butter (ghee) - 1 tsp (for greasing)

How to make Caramel Fudge Laddoos

  1. In a thick bottomed pan pour condensed milk and butter and put it on low flame.
  2. Stir occasionally so that the mixture does stick to the bottom and burn.
  3. Add the caramel syrup and continue to stir.
  4. While the above mix is bubbling grease a plate with ghee and keep it ready.
  5. Keep stirring the mix till it starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  6. Sprinkle the milk powder at this stage and fold it in. Stir for a couple of minutes more.
  7. Pour it in the greased plate and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
  8. When it comes to a temperature where you can touch it, take some and roll it into lemon sized balls.
  9. Enjoy with family and friends.

My Tip:

You can make your own caramel syrup. Take a heavy bottomed pan and add half a cup of sugar and let it melt. Do not stir it. Once the sugar starts to burn and comes to a saucy consistency remove from fire and pour into a bowl. Sometimes the caramel may solidify. Don't worry. Add a little water and mix and it will dissolve in some time. This can be stored for a couple of weeks and used as flavouring in cookies, cakes and icing.
