ABOUT Malai Chum Chum RECIPE

A bengali sweet , made with homemade paneer and mawa

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. chenna made from 500 gms milk
  2. 1 tsp refined flour
  3. 1 tsp suji
  4. A pinch of baking powder
  5. sugar 1 cup for making sugar syrup
  6. Water 2 cups
  7. for mawa :
  8. 1 cup milk powder full fat
  9. 1/2 cup Milk
  10. Ghee 3 tbsp
  11. some saffron stands for garnishing
  12. some pistachios for garnishing
  13. a pinch of yellow colour
  14. 2 tsp sugar
  15. 1 tsp milk for soaking saffron strands

Instructions

  1. Knead paneer well for 10 mins
  2. Add suji , maida and baking powder again knead for 5 mins
  3. Now make small balls of equal size and give them oblong shape
  4. Now add water in a big pan or pressure cooker
  5. When water starts boiling add sugar boil boil 10 mins , simmer for 5 mins
  6. Add paneer discs , boil them in the sugar syrup for 10 _12 mins , covering the lid
  7. Let them cool down , make slits with knife
  8. For making mawa , take a oven proof dish
  9. Add milk powder and ghee then add milk
  10. There should not be any lumps
  11. Now heat in high microwave mode for 1 mins
  12. Take it out and mix again heat for 1 mins , take it out and mix
  13. Again heat 1 1/2 mins and it is done now , in total 3 and 1/2 mins
  14. Let it cool down completely , then keep in the fridge for 1/2 an hour
  15. Now add 2 tsp of sugar and saffron soaked in 1 tsp of milk and a pinch of yellow colour
  16. Now add this stuffing to the chum chum
  17. Garnish with broken pistachios
