ABOUT Panchratna Oats ka Khichidi RECIPE

It is a combination of 5 dals which I have cooked with oats. It is very healthy to eat and a stomach filling dish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup oats
  2. 1 tbsp ghee
  3. 1 tbsp channe ki dal
  4. 1 tbsp sambar dal
  5. 1 tbsp yellow moong dal
  6. 1 tbsp green moong dal
  7. 1 tbsp masoor dal
  8. 1 tbsp jeera
  9. Salt according to taste
  10. 5-6 curry leaves
  11. A pinch of turmeric powder
  12. 1 tsp ginger paste
  13. 1/2 tsp black peppercorns
  14. 1 carrot chopped
  15. 2-3 beans chopped
  16. 1/2 cup peas
  17. Few leaves of spinach, chopped
  18. Ingredients for Coriander Aloo/Potato:
  19. Oil for frying
  20. 4-5 potatoes cut long slices
  21. Salt to taste
  22. A pinch of turmeric powder
  23. 1 cup of chopped coriander and curry leaves
  24. A pinch of dhaniya/ coriander powder
  25. A pinch of amchoor powder

Instructions

  1. In a cooker, heat ghee, then fry in the jeera, curry leaves, peppercorns and ginger paste. Once the seeds crackle, add in the vegetables and fry it for a while.
  2. Next add in all the 5 dals along with the oats, chopped palak and mix it well together. Add a pinch of turmeric powder and stir well.
  3. Pour in water and add in salt, then pressure cook it till 4 whistles blow.
  4. To prepare the aloo masala, deep fry the potatoes first. Keep them aside.
  5. Then in a kadai, heat oil, fry in the jeera, curry leaves and coriander together.
  6. Next, add a pinch of turmeric powder, amchoor powder, dhanya powder, salt and mix it well.
  7. Then add in the potatoes and mix it all together.
