ABOUT Chinese Doughnuts RECIPE

I found a recipe for Chinese doughnuts from scratch. Normally these are made with a ready made dough, they are different from regular doughnuts.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. All purpose flour- 1 cup
  2. Powdered sugar- 1 tsp
  3. Baking powder- 1 and 1/4 tsp
  4. Salt a pinch
  5. Unsalted butter- 3 tbsp
  6. Milk- 1/2 cup
  7. Oil for deep frying
  8. Powdered sugar- 3/4 cup for coating

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together. Add in the butter and rub it with your fingers till the flour resembles breadcrumbs.
  2. Pour in milk a little by little and make a dough.
  3. Heat oil in a kadai for deep frying. Also keep a plate ready with powdered sugar.
  4. Place the dough on a floured surface and roll till it has 1/2 inch thickness. Cut round shapes of it with the help of a cookie cutter.
  5. Deep fry till they are golden brown on both sides. Drain the excess oil on a paper towel.
  6. Coat it with powdered sugar while the doughnuts are still warm.
  7. Enjoy these doughnuts with your evening cuppa.
