Chicken Lollipop

Ingredients to make Chicken Lollipop

  • 6 pieces of chicken lollipops, cleaned
  • 1/2 cup corn flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1/2 Inch ginger, chopped
  • 1-1/2 tablespoon red chilli paste
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon soya sauce
  • 1/3 Teaspoon ajinomoto (optional)
  • oil to deep fry
  • 1/2 cup water
  • salt to taste
  • Chopped spring onion to garnish, a handful

How to make Chicken Lollipop

  1. To fry the chicken lollipops:
  2. Mix the cornflour and black pepper powder together. Then add in the red chilli powder and salt. Next add in the egg whites and make a thick batter out of it.
  3. Add in the chicken pieces to mix the batter and marinate it for 15 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a vessel and deep fry the chicken lollipops one by one till they are golden in colour. Drain them on a kitchen towel.
  5. To prepare the sauce:
  6. Take a wok and heat 1 teaspoon of oil on a high flame. Add the chopped ginger and chopped garlic into the hot oil and cook it for 2-5 seconds.
  7. Next add in the chopped onions and saute on a high flame. Then add in the red chilli paste and mix it gently.
  8. Add salt and black pepper powder and ajinomoto at this step. Then pour in a little water to bring it all together and mix well.
  9. Now add in the soya sauce and vinegar. Then add in the fried chicken pieces and toss it all together.
  10. Garnish with spring onion and serve it hot.

My Tip:

Use kashmiri dry red chillies to make the chilli paste. Double fry the chicken pieces to make them extra crispy.
