Goan Fish Curry

Ingredients to make Goan Fish Curry

  • For the Marination:
  • Bangda fish 7 pieces
  • ginger-Garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • salt as per taste
  • lemon juice 1 tbsp
  • For the paste:
  • coconut 2 tbsp
  • green chillies 6
  • red chilli powder 2 tsp
  • Choti elaichi 3
  • Laung 7 pieces
  • Black peppercorn 1 tsp
  • dalchini a small piece
  • For the gravy:
  • onion chopped 1 tbsp
  • garlic chopped 1 tsp
  • Green chilli for extra spiciness
  • salt as per taste
  • tamarind pulp 1 tsp
  • mustard seed 1/2 tsp

How to make Goan Fish Curry

  1. First marinate the fish for about 30 mins.
  2. Heat a pan, add oil in it add the mustard seeds. When it splutters, add in the onion and chopped garlic.
  3. When it becomes light brown in colour, add in the coconut paste and cook it for about 15 mins.
  4. Then add the salt and tamarind pulp. Mix it well and cook for 3 minutes.
  5. Pour in 2 cups of water and let it boil for 5 mins. Then add in the marinated fish pieces and let it cook for 20 mins and it's done.
  6. Enjoy this dish with rice.
