Ingredients to make Bubur Sumsum (Indonesian dessert)

  • Rice flour 100 gm or 1 cup
  • coconut milk 2 and 1/2 cup
  • Brown sugar 100 gm
  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  • salt a pinch

How to make Bubur Sumsum (Indonesian dessert)

  1. Mix the rice flour and coconut milk well, without any lumps. Cook on a low fire till it's thick, then add in the vanilla and salt in between.
  2. In another pan, pour in the brown sugar with 1/2 cup of water and let it dissolve. (If you want, you can make the syrup a little more thicker.)
  3. Take individual servings, put the rice flour mixture in individual cups and pour some syrup. If you want, you can put some fruits on top.
  4. This dessert is usually served warm.

My Tip:

This dessert is traditionally served warm. But i liked the cold one too. Both are tasty. Adding fruits is any one's choice.
