Kadhai Mushroom

Ingredients to make Kadhai Mushroom

  • mushroom - 500 gms
  • onions (chopped) - 4 to 5 medium sized
  • tomatoes - 4 (puree)
  • coriander seeds - 2 tablespoon
  • Dry red chillies - 4 to 6
  • Green cardamoms - 2
  • cashew nuts (optional) - 6 to 8
  • cumin seeds - 1/2 tablespoon
  • ginger garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • haldi powder - 1/2 tablespoon
  • chilli powder - 1/2 tablespoon
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Kasturi methi - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh cream - 4 tablespoons

How to make Kadhai Mushroom

  1. Cut the mushrooms into 4 parts. Soak them in luke warm water to remove all the dirt.
  2. Heat a kadhai, add in the coriander seeds, dry red chillies, green cardamoms, cashew nuts(optional) and saute them till they are golden brown. Grind them in a mixer, once cooled to a fine powder, keep it aside.
  3. Heat a kadhai, add in the oil, cumin seeds, dry red chillies, saute then add in the chopped onions and saute till it turns pink. Add in the mashed ginger and garlic.
  4. After it's cooked, add in the tomato puree. (You can add some chopped tomatoes as well.)
  5. Now add in the haldi, chilli powder, garam masala, salt, and the kadhai masala powder prepared earlier. Let it cook till the oil separates itself. Now add the mushrooms in it.
  6. Mix it well. Cover it and let the mushrooms get cooked by themselves. (Mushrooms leave enough water. You can see how much water it has left.)
  7. Now you can pour in water and keep the flame on medium. Let it cook for 20 mins. Check whether it's cooked by piercing a fork in the mushroom.
  8. After it gets cooked, add in the kasturi methi and butter. Mix well and turn off the flame.
  9. Kadhai mushroom is ready!

My Tip:

You can add capsicum as well if you want to increase the quantity.
