ABOUT Sabudana Khichdi RECIPE

Sabudana Khichdi is an absolutely delicious Maharashtrian fasting dish.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 1 and 1/2 cup Sabudana/ Sago/ Tapioca Pearls
  2. 1/2 cup roasted peanuts
  3. 4 to 5 green chillies
  4. 1 inch ginger
  5. 2 tsp Lemon juice
  6. 1 tsp sugar
  7. 1 tbsp ghee
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Soak the sabudana overnight or atleast for 4 hrs. In the morning drain the sabudana and keep it aside.
  2. Now make the coarsed powder of roasted peanuts in a dry grinder and keep it aside in a bowl. Grind green chillies and ginger in chutney mixer and keep it aside.
  3. Mix peanut powder, salt and sugar to the sabudana and mix it well.
  4. In a pan heat the ghee, once it's heated, add in the cumin seeds and let them crackle. Once they crackle, add in the ginger-green chillies paste and mix it nicely.
  5. Now add sabudana mixture to the pan and mix it very nicely. Now add in the lemon juice and mix it again.
  6. Sprinkle some water, mix it and cover the pan for 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. Once the khichdi is cooked, garnish it with coriander leaves.
  8. Serve it hot with curd.
