Ingredients to make Lipatwa Methi Besan Gatte

  • besan 1 cup
  • Chopped methi leaves 1/2 cup
  • salt as per taste
  • turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tsp
  • red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • saunf powder 1 tsp
  • hing powder 1 tsp
  • curd 1 cup
  • oil 2 tsp
  • Ajwain 1 tsp
  • Whole dry red chillies 2 nos
  • garlic cloves 4/5
  • ghee 1 tsp
  • Sodium bicarbonate 1 pinch
  • coriander leaves for garnishing

How to make Lipatwa Methi Besan Gatte

  1. Take besan in a bowl, add in the salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, saunf powder, coriander powder, hing powder, chopped methi leaves and soda bicarbonate.
  2. Add water and knead it slightly right. Now roll them into muthias.
  3. Take a kadai and keep enough water to boil. Then add the besan muthias into the water.
  4. Let it boil for nearly 7 minutes or till it is done. Check with a knife. Then take them out and cut into gattas.
  5. Now chop the garlic cloves. Keep it aside.
  6. Take another bowl and beat in the curd, add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, saunf powder and salt. Mix it well together.
  7. Take a kadai, add oil to heat, then add in the hng powder, curd and stir it continuously.
  8. Now add in the gatte and let it boil for sometime.
  9. To make the tadka, take a pan and add in the ghee, then add in the hing powder, ajwain, garlic, whole red chilli, red chilli powder.
  10. Add this tadka on top of your gatte.
  11. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve.

My Tip:

If you want to eat gatte as a proper gravy then pour in the same water in which the muthias were boiled.
