ABOUT Indonesian Sambal Vegetarian Version RECIPE

This can be a base of any kind of experimental Indonesian recipe like sambal telur/sambal egg (boiled), sambal ayam/sambal chicken, sambal Ikan/sambal fish and the list goes on.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 4 big size tomatoes cut into cubes
  2. 8 cloves garlic cut each into 2
  3. 5 fresh red chilly ( chilly padi )
  4. 4 shallots cut each cut into 2
  5. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  6. A pinch of sugar
  7. 4 tablespoon oil

Instructions

  1. In a deep pan take 2 tablespoon of oil add all the ingredients except for the sugar and sal.
  2. Cover the lid and let it cook for about 7 minutes on slow flame or until tomatoes and shallots are nice and soft.
  3. Remove all in a mortar-pestle and start mashing it while adding salt and sugar, once its mashed evenly put it back in the same pan with another 2 tablespoon of oil.
  4. Saute until oil seperates. Remove it in a jar this can be used for at least 2 weeks.
