Classic french chocolate cake with chocolate ganache , a lovely french dessert

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 200gms powdered castor sugar
  2. 200gms flour
  3. pinch of salt
  4. pinch of baking powder
  5. 1 tsp of vanilla essence
  6. 2 tbsp of coco powder
  7. 4 medium sized eggs (around 50 gms each)
  8. pinch of milk powder
  9. 200 gms of unsalted butter
  10. 127 gms of dark chocolate chips
  11. 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  12. 1 table spoon dark rum (optional)
  13. silver ball (for garnish )
  14. one orange sliced
  15. 6 cherries

Instructions

  1. mix the salt, coco powder, baking powder and milk powder and sieve , keep in a bowl and let it rest
  2. cream the butter, make sure the butter is in room temperature, add the sugar and mix nicely
  3. now in a separate bowl whisk the eggs , mix in the vanilla essence
  4. preheat the oven at 180 degrees , while it gets heated, mix in the sugar butter to the eggs, and then slowly add the flour,
  5. prepare a baking tray , line it with butter , place the batter in it
  6. put in the oven for 20 mins at 180 degrees , check after 10 mins and then 15 mins , bake until a tooth pick comes out clean, keep a check
  7. while the cake is baking, Place the chocolate into a medium bowl. Heat the cream in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Bring just to a boil, watching very carefully because if it boils for a few seconds, it will boil out of the pot.
  8. when the cream has come to a boil, pour over the chopped chocolate, and whisk until smooth. Stir in the rum if desired.
  9. Allow the ganache to cool slightly before pouring over a cake. Start at the center of the cake and work outward. For a fluffy frosting or chocolate filling, allow it to cool until thick, then whip with a whisk until light and fluffy.
