ABOUT Gooseberry /Amla Jam RECIPE

Amla is a very good source of vitamin C and very nutritious. It is good for hair, skin and for immune system as well. It is good for everyone. This is my mother in law's recipe which we all enjoy.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Gooseberry - 500 gms
  2. Sugar -500gms
  3. cardamom -4
  4. Cinnamon sticks -2

Instructions

  1. Wash gooseberries.
  2. Take a saucepan and put enough water to cover gooseberries.
  3. Cook the gooseberries on the low flame till they become soft.
  4. Remove from stove and strain the water from gooseberries. let them cool down. Preserve this water for any other dish.
  5. Meanwhile, peel and grind the cardamom and cinnamon sticks.
  6. Take out the seeds from the gooseberries. Grind the gooseberries to make a smooth paste.
  7. Now in a steel wok, put this paste along with the sugar and cook it on a medium flame. Keep stirring.
  8. Sugar will completely dissolve in a while and paste start to change its colour.
  9. After 5-7 minutes it will start to thicken. Test the mixture. When it sticks to your finger like a jam switch off the stove.
  10. Put the cinnamon powder in the jam. Mix well. Add cardamom powder. The jam is ready
  11. Let it cool down. Transfer to a jar.
