Crisp Amla Tikkis

Ingredients to make Crisp Amla Tikkis

  • 4 Amlas, medium size grated
  • 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 slice bread, sides removed
  • 1/2 cup chana dal, boiled and mashed
  • 1 inch piece ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 Green chilli, chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tbsp mint leaves, chopped
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp dhania powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp cashewnuts, chopped
  • 50 gms paneer, cubed
  • mustard seeds and sesame seeds- 1tsp
  • oil for frying

How to make Crisp Amla Tikkis

  1. Combine grated amla, potatoes, mashed dal and the bread slice and mix well.
  2. Next add in the chopped onion, ginger, green chilli, garam masala, dhania, red chilli powder, coriander leaves, mint and salt and mix well.
  3. Form into lemon sized balls.
  4. Combine the chopped cashewnuts and the paneer cubes, season with a little salt and red chilli powder.
  5. Stuff each ball with a little paneer mixture and shape into tikkis.
  6. Sprinkle some mustard and sesame seeds on top and fry till crisp.
  7. You can pan fry/air fry or even brush with oil and bake.
  8. Serve hot with any chutney of your choice.

My Tip:

You can form the tikkis beforehand and refrigerate, just fry and serve as required.
