Ingredients to make Bread Upma

  • Whole wheat Bread - 6 slices
  • onions - 2, finely chopped
  • capsicum - 1, finely chopped
  • green chillies - 2, finely chopped
  • ginger - finely chopped - 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala Powder - 1 tsp
  • tomato Ketchup - 1 tbsp
  • sugar - A pinch
  • salt - to taste
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Melted butter - 1 tbsp
  • oil - 1 tsp

How to make Bread Upma

  1. Heat oil and butter in a pan and add the mustard seeds.
  2. Once it begins to crackle, add the urad dal.
  3. Add the ginger, green chillies and onions.
  4. Add a pinch of sugar and saute for a couple of minutes.
  5. Add the finely chopped capsicum, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt and mix well.
  6. Add the ketchup and mix well. Sprinkle a little water so the spices don't burn.
  7. Roughly chop up the bread slices and add it to the pan and mix it well so the masala coats the bread really well.
  8. Leave it for a minute so the bread becomes a little crisp.
  9. Turn off the heat and serve.
