Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Mutton or chicken boneless 500gm.
  2. Bengal gram or chana dal 1/2 a cup
  3. salt to taste
  4. Garam masala a tbsp
  5. ginger garlic paste a tbsp
  6. chilli powder a tbsp
  7. Cubeb ( tailed pepper) about 10
  8. coriander and mint leaves a fistful.
  9. Green chillies 2
  10. onion 1 large finely chopped.
  11. oil 1 to 2 tbsp to add in the mutton while cooking + additional oil as needed for shallow frying.


  1. Soak the dal for an hour.
  2. Pressure cook the mutton with all the ingredients along with the dal just for about 6 to 7 whistles, using minimum of water.
  3. I usually cook it on low flame in a heavy bottomed pan for 30 to 40 mins which helps in giving a unique flavour to the kababs
  4. Grind this mix, shape them into kababs and shallow fry.
  5. Serve hot with rice.
