ABOUT Badam Flaxseed Ladoos RECIPE

These laddoos are a small twist on the traditional aatta ladoos. These are made with lot of love for my husband and his shipmates when they are at sea for months together guarding our coastlines. Its like bit of 'home' packed in a glass jar

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Multigrain atta 2 cups
  2. Ghee 1.25 cup
  3. Ground Sugar 1.25 cup
  4. Edible gum (gond) 2 tbsp
  5. Almonds 1/2cup
  6. Flax seeds roasted 1/4 cup
  7. Raisins and cashews 1/4 cup
  8. Powdered cardamom 1.5 tsp

Instructions

  1. In a thick bottom kadhai ,add 4 tbsp ghee and heat
  2. Once the ghee is hot ,add the edible gum till it puffs up.Remove and drain on a tissue
  3. Add rest of the ghee and heat. Add the atta and roast it for some time on low flame
  4. Meanwhile take flaxseeds ,almond and cashewnuts along with puffed up gum . Grind coarsely in the mixie.
  5. Atta should be giving off cooked aroma by now.Add sugar,cardamom,dryfruits mixture and raisins to it.
  6. Roast again for 5 minutes
  7. Check with a little quantity if it binds together. If you feel its a bit dry ,add more ghee.
  8. Remove from the heat and let cool a little. Make ladoos and dot them with raisins or almonds
  9. They stay well for almost a week plus .

Wow, these ladoos remind me of my grandmother, she use always make tons of these and force feed them to us in winters... i miss her and the ladoos... Thank you for sharing, will try and make them very soon..
