ABOUT Karuveppilai Podi (Curry Leaves - Kadi Pattha Powder) RECIPE

This podi is a multipurpose powder, highly nutritious and can be stored and used whenever required. This is a traditional south Indian recipe which I learnt from my mother. Curry leaves are high in fibre, B vitamins especially folate, minerals - especially high in calcium and also vitamin C.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Curry Leaves - One cup Packed
  2. Urad Dhal - 3 Spoons
  3. Red Chilli - 4 Nos
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Hinge - Small Amount

Instructions

  1. Wash Curry Leaves well. Put on a soft towel. Cover it well. Let the water get absorbed. Dry it in shade. It should be free of moisture.
  2. In a pan, fry Urad Dhal and Red Chilli for few minutes. When the dhal becomes Golden in colour, add curry leaves fry for 30 seconds.
  3. Add Hing, Salt
  4. Grind all the ingredients into a fine powder.
