Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chicken -1/2 kg
  2. Onions -2 big
  3. Tomatoes -2 big
  4. Ginger & garlic paste- 2 spoons
  5. Red chilli powder-1spoon
  6. Coriander powder-2 spoons
  7. Turmeric powder-1 spoon
  8. Curry leaves- 1 cup
  9. Coriander leaves - 1 cup chopped
  10. Saunf - 1 spoon
  11. Pepper and cumin seeds - crushed ( 2 spoons)
  12. Oil - for frying
  13. Salt - as required


  1. Wash and rinse chicken about 2-3 times with little salt and turmeric powder
  2. Heat oil in a thick bottom vessel and fry saunf. Wait till it splutters.
  3. Now add ginger & garlic paste and fry till aroma comes out.
  4. Add onion and fry it in a medium flame till turns light brown
  5. Once it is done add tomatoes and curry leaves fry till oil comes out. Add above said masalas like chilli powder.,coriander powder and turmeric powder and fry for 2-3 mins add chicken pieces and salt as required
  6. Now stir well till the mix coats well with chicken.
  7. Add little water and boil altogether either by covering lid on a vessel or by pressure cooker
  8. Cook till chicken becomes soft and tender. Don't overcook as it will become like paste while frying.
  9. Once it is done remove the lid and fry till gravy becomes thick .
  10. Once the water drains completely add pepper and cumin seeds powder
  11. stir for 2seconds and turn off the flame
  12. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  13. Serve hot with roti, chapati and white rice
