Mutton Gravy/Mutton Kulambu

Ingredients to make Mutton Gravy/Mutton Kulambu

  • Mutton -1/4 kg diced
  • onion-2 big
  • tomatoes-2 big
  • Drumstick & potato-1 cup boiled
  • ginger and garlic paste-2 spoon
  • red chillis-1 spoon
  • coriander powder-2 spoon
  • turmeric powder-1 pinch
  • coconut paste -1/2 cup
  • salt As required
  • coriander leaves chopped
  • curry leaves as required
  • mint leaves as required
  • lemon juice -2 spoon
  • oil-2 tablespoons
  • cinnamon -1 piece
  • cloves-2 pieces

How to make Mutton Gravy/Mutton Kulambu

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker add cinnamon and cloves fry for 1 minute and add ginger and garlic paste.
  2. Fry till raw smell goes.Now add onions and fry till brown
  3. Add tomatoes , curry leaves,mint leaves and fry until oil comes out.
  4. Once it is done add red chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder
  5. Fry altogether well. Now add mutton pieces,salt , and pour water as required to boil mutton.
  6. Cook for 15 to 20 whistles till the mutton becomes soft and tender.
  7. Once it is done open the lid and cook for 5 mins with out covering.
  8. Now add grounded coconut paste and cooked drumstick ,potatoes and salt as required
  9. Need not add more as we added already while boiling meat.
  10. Allow it to cook for another 5 mins and add lemon juice. Turn off the flame immediately after adding the juice .
  11. Garnish with coriander leaves
  12. Adding drumstick gives more flavour to this dish and especially kids like it as we are adding potatoes. This dish goes well with steam rice, chapati, idli and dosa
