Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chow chow - 1 big (chopped)
  2. Onion -1 chopped
  3. Curry leaves -1/2cup
  4. Green chilli -1
  5. Toor dhal - 1 cup (cooked)
  6. Coconut - 1cup (grated)
  7. Salt as required
  8. Oil - 2 spoons
  9. Mustard -1 spoon
  10. Urid dhal -1 spoon
  11. Cumin seeds-1 spoon
  12. Asafoetida -1 pinch
  13. Turmeric powder-1 pinch

Instructions

  1. Wash chow chow well, peel and slice it.
  2. Heat oil in a vessel add mustard seeds wait till seeds splutter. Now add urid dhal ,asafoetida powder and cumin seeds
  3. Fry for few seconds and add chopped onion, green chilli and curry leaves.
  4. Saute till onion turns light brown.
  5. Now add chopped chow chow and water. Cover and cook till vegetable becomes tender and soft .
  6. Once it is done add cooked toor dhal , pinch of turmeric powder and salt .
  7. Let it cook for about 7-8 minutes.
  8. Finally add grated coconut and allow it to cook for 2minutes.
  9. Turn off flame and garnish with coriander leaves
  10. Serve hot with rice , chapati and Roti
