ABOUT Guava Cheese RECIPE

Guava cheese is a Goan festive sweet. Guava cheese is also called Perad.This recipe was introduced by the Portuguese. One of the most famous sweet from Goa. Guava cheese is the authentic Goan recipes for Christmas.I love it .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Guavas - 800 grams
  2. Ghee - 2 tbsp
  3. Lime juice - 1 Tbsp
  4. Sugar - 550 grams

Instructions

  1. Take some fresh guavas, wash it remove the top and bottom. Chop it into chunks. Boil the chunks with water and grind it to a fine puree. drain water.
  2. strain the puree using a muslin cloth. remove all the seeds.
  3. Take a non- stick pan add ghee and guava puree cook it. Keep stirring continuously otherwise it will get burnt.
  4. When the water evaporates from puree add sugar and continue stirring till the mixture begins to thicken.
  5. Add the lime juice and continue mixing. You will get a nice shine and the lime sets the cheese.
  6. Mixture comes to jam consistency still you have continue cooking till the mix comes together and get layers on top and starts to leave the edges of the pan.
  7. Grease a tray with some oil and spread this mixture evenly. keep aside let it cool and set for a couple of hours before you slice it and enjoy. Cut the Guava Cheese into squares or any other shape.
