Steamed Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients to make Steamed Cabbage Rolls

  • cabbage 8-10 whole leaves (washed)
  • 150 gms paneer (crumbled)
  • 1 small red bell pepper (julienned)
  • 1 small yellow bell pepper (julienned)
  • 1 onion (chopped finely)
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • olive oil 2 tsp + a little for brushing
  • 1 tbsp coriander (chopped)
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Mixed Herbs

How to make Steamed Cabbage Rolls

  1. Heat oil in a pan, saute onions and add ginger garlic paste.
  2. Once the onions turn pink, add the mixed peppers and let them sweat a little.
  3. Add salt and pepper to taste and the mixed herbs.
  4. Add paneer and mix it nicely.
  5. Take it off heat and add coriander, keep aside.
  6. Blanch cabbage for 30 seconds in boiling water to soften them for rolling. (Ensure that the cabbage leaves do not tear)
  7. Lay cabbage on a flat surface and place about 2 tbsp of the paneer mixture.
  8. Roll the cabbage starting from the bottom. Then fold in the two ends at the sides and let the cabbage roll sit on the folded ends to form a neat parcel. Brush them with a little oil.
  9. Arrange cabbage rolls in a single layer in a steamer and steam at high heat for about 15 minutes.

My Tip:

Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage carefully. Do not over blanch the cabbage as the leaves should be crunchy. Can be served with sour cream or a dip of your choice.
