I have been experimenting different recipes with quinoa and one of my recent trials is this crunchy munchy murukku. If you are searching for a different murukku I am sure this post will definitely help you to make your savoury snacks for any occasion. I have prepared quinoa flour myself at home after dry roasting those grains and grinding them. This homemade quinoa flour makes excellent crunchy and dangerously addictive murukku.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cups Rice flour
  2. 1 cup Quinoa flour
  3. 1/2 cup Roasted gram flour
  4. 3 tbsp butter (room temperature)
  5. 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  6. 1/4 tsp asafoetida powder
  7. salt
  8. oil for Deep frying


  1. Take the rice flour, quinoa flour, roasted gram flour, butter, cumin seeds, asafoetida powder, salt and ajwain seeds in a large bowl.
  2. Gradually add the water and knead everything as a soft and stiff dough.
  3. Heat the oil for deep frying in a kadai.
  4. Take a murukku press with star nozzle, pinch a small portion of the dough, drop it into the press and squeeze out as round shaped murukku in a greased flat plate.
  5. Once the oil is hot, drop the squeezed murukku.
  6. Fry on both sides until it turns golden brown, drain the excess oil with paper towel. Repeat the same process until the dough gets finished.
  7. Fry the murukkus in small batches. Arrange in an air tight containers and enjoy.
