Khaara Boondi/Pearl Drops

Ingredients to make Khaara Boondi/Pearl Drops

  • gram flour or besan 2 cups
  • oil 1 tbsp
  • water as needed
  • chilli powder and salt according to taste

How to make Khaara Boondi/Pearl Drops

  1. Make a smooth semi thick batter with gram flour, oil and water.
  2. Add water little by little.
  3. The batter should be semi thick and of pouring consistency.
  4. Deep fry in hot oil as seen in the pics using a slotted spoon.
  5. Sprinkle salt and chilli powder when it is still warm and serve.

My Tip:

Remember to make a semi thick batter and beat it really well so that it is smooth. When you drop it from a height, the batter should fall straight and not break. That is the right consistency. Oil should be hot. And these boondis can be used for laddus also, so salt and chilli powder should be added only after frying. And for making laddus, do not fry them much. As soon as the raw smell disappears, remove them.
