ABOUT Shallow fried poppers RECIPE

A healthy version of the South Indian gunthpangalu.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. White oats 2 tblsps
  2. Rava 2 tblspns
  3. Rice flour 250 gms
  4. Udad dal flour 100 gms
  5. Onion 2 medium, chopped fine
  6. Carrot 1, grated
  7. Green chillies 2, chopped fine
  8. Ginger 1 inch piece, grated
  9. Coriander leaves 1 handful chopped
  10. Eno food salt 1 pkt
  11. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix all the flours, salt, grated carrots, chopped onion, chillies and ginger.
  2. Add water and make a batter (like medu vada consistency).
  3. Place the gunthpangalu pan on the gas after applying oil in the depressions and light the gas.
  4. Put about 1/3 rd tsp oil in each depression.
  5. Pour the batter to 3/4th of each depression and then cover the pan.
  6. Once cooked, remove from the moulds and serve with chutney, pickle or sauce.
