ABOUT Falafel RECIPE

Falafel is a Lebanese deep fried ball made from white chickpeas or kabuli chana or fava beans .

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 cup Soaked chickpeas
  2. 1 small to medium onion
  3. 2-3 garlic Cloves
  4. 1 tsp coriander powder
  5. 1 tsp coriander powder
  6. 1/2 tsp Red chill powder
  7. 1 tsp cumin powder
  8. 1/2 tsp crushed black pepper
  9. 3 tbsp fresh parsley
  10. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  11. salt to taste
  12. oil for frying
  13. Sumac (optional) 1 tsp
  14. A fistful mint leaves
  15. Another fistful of coriander leaves
  16. 1/4th tsp of baking soda

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl .
  2. Mash the chickpeas and mix everything well .
  3. Form the batter into small balls .
  4. Deep fry like the way you would do for pakoras .
  5. Keep turning them to ensure even cooking .
  6. Decorate it with coriander leaves , mint leaves and sumac.
  7. Serve falafel hot with either pita bread or just by themselves .
