Butter Chicken

Ingredients to make Butter Chicken

  • chicken 300 gms with bones
  • onion (medium) - 1
  • tomato (big) - 1
  • tomato ketchup 3 tbsp
  • ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
  • red chilli powder 1 tsp and 1 tsp for tempering
  • For Boiling The chicken :
  • red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • haldi a pinch
  • dhania powder 1/2 tsp
  • curd 1tsp
  • salt to taste
  • Cashewnut paste 4 tbsp
  • oil as reqd
  • salt to taste
  • Blob of butter at the time of serving

How to make Butter Chicken

  1. Clean and wash chicken. Now to it add half glass of water, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, haldi,dhania powder,curd and salt. Boil it till it is tender and never mind if water remains. Later we will use it as a stock.
  2. Let it cool and shred the chicken and keep aside.
  3. Make paste of onion and tomato. But please note make it separately.
  4. Heat oil (2tbl spn), add ginger garlic paste and saute well. Now add onion paste and saute till it starts leaving oil. At this stage, add tomato paste, salt, red chilli powder and saute till it is well done and fragrant. Now you have to add shredded chicken and mix well,add half glass of water so that all get mixed well.
  5. Now add tomato ketchup and kaju paste. Consistency should be thick. Switch off the flame. Now heat a pan, add 2 tsp of oil. When it is hot switch off the gas and add 1 tsp of red chilli powder. When they start to splutter, temper it on the gravy. Believe me it gives a very beautiful effect on the gravy.
  6. Transfer onto serving dish and add a blob of butter. Enjoy with roti or naan.

My Tip:

I am using chicken with bone but you can also use boneless chicken if you have.
